It's one of Limoncelli's big points in Time Management for System Administrators. Tools, such as Puppet and Chef, make it easy for systems administrators to maintain multiple servers at one time and quickly upload information. I got it when I was a system administrator and doing kind of developer stuff kind of on the side for the company. As part of that, I'd just run through the regular tasks of the System Admin.
